She met with students and staff and spent time learning about the work we carry out at Far Academy.

I recently visited Far Academy; a full-time Independent Specialist Post 16 College for young people with EHCP’s, with additional needs as they may struggle with their social, emotional and mental health. This wonderful setting provides practical learning in a safe, holistic and nurturing environment.
Each of these students were able to access the successful and impressive programmes that Far Academy offer due to their EHCPs (Educational Health and Care Plans). Unfortunately, this current government is flirting with the idea of abolishing these documents that offer precious legal protections. This would leave students like those at Far Academy and other alternative providers, unable to have fair and appropriate access to the specialist education they so desperately need.
Over my eight years as your MP, I have campaigned tirelessly for children and young people with SEND and their families, to ensure they have confidence in the support available to them. I will continue to call on this Government to ensure that all children receive the education they deserve.
